How Music Changed Part 139-1: The British Invasion Part 1

episode date - June 18, 2010

A few weeks back, we did a series of shows on what music was like in England before the British Invasion. Now, the time has come to cover the real McCoy – what America was like during the British Invasion.

It’s hard to understand just how much of a cultural shift this part of history represented, but from a musical standpoint, entire careers were either revived or derailed, depending on what side of the coin (or “the pond”) you were on. It was an amazing time, and it signaled a virtual rebirth for rock and roll music.

Here are the tracks covered in today’s program;

1) I Want to Hold Your Hand – The Beatles

2) She Loves You – The Beatles

3) I Saw Her Standing There – The Beatles

4) It’s All in the Game – Cliff Richard

5) Please Please Me – The Beatles

6) I Only Want to Be with You – Dusty Springfield

7) My Bonnie – The Beatles (featuring Tony Sheridan)

8) Twist and Shout – The Beatles

9) Can’t Buy Me Love – The Beatles

10) Glad All Over – The Dave Clark Five
